The Outpost at Bedwell River |
|
“Rusticating
Luxury” *
Inspired by late 19th century Great Camps, the Wilderness Outpost at Bedwell River promises a delicious irony of indulgent luxury and remote, untamed wilderness. The quintessential marriage of soft adventure and soft beds — of childhood wishes and grown-up dreams come true. The Wilderness Outpost is located on Bedwell River, at the mouth of the Pacific Ocean, close to Strathcona Provincial Park, 9 km (5.5 miles) by boat from Quait Bay and about 45 minutes from Tofino. This 21st century-safari style enclave offers ultra luxurious sleeping and dining tents for two to twenty explorers. A windmill-powered generator provides air conditioning power and hot and cold running water to showers and sinks.
An enclave of 16 great white canvas explorer and suite tents, plus dining
tents, spa tents, and lounge tents offers visitors a taste of how the
fortunate spent their summers 'roughing it' some one hundred years ago. *National Geographic Traveler magazine calls this resort "rusticating luxury". We call it home and we know you will too.
Explorer quarters are roomy prospector style canvas tents on raised wooden platforms with remote-controlled propane woodstoves, air conditioning power, handmade Adirondack furniture, queen size beds with down duvets, period accessories, oil lamps, opulent carpets, netting, and generous porches overlooking the river and Bedwell Sound. Cedar boardwalks link discreetly situated explorer tents – each with its own hitching post and firepit – to the large dining tent, kitchen tent, roundhouse, shower and washroom facilities. Plush robes and towels, aroma-therapeutic amenities and more, provide every comfort.
Like all resort amenities, Outpost activities are custom made to order.
Unguided activities unfold at a self-guided pace. Equipped with
state-of-the-art gear and expert instruction, un-escorted explorers find
adventure in and around the Outpost. Unguided activities include kayaking,
canoeing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing.
