This is a portfolio containing ten Quad-Black Quad-Black Piezograph Prints. Each print is approximately 5 inches by twelve (12) inches in image size, mounted on 100% rag, acid-free museum board, approximately thirteen (13) inches by twenty (20) inches in size. All the images were photographed, mounted, signed and dated personally by Roger Moore.Five of the images (Volubilis #1, Volubilis #2, Volubilis #4, Volubilis #5, and The Stables #2) were photographed in Morocco in December 1996. The Volubilis images are of the ruins of an ancient Roman city by that name, founded in 49 B.C., located near the modern city of Mekness. The Stables #2 is of a 17th century stable which was underground at that time. Erosion over the hundreds of years has now allowed light to flow in through the ceiling. At the time of construction, the stable held 12,000 horses.
The other five images (Missions #4, Missions #5, Missions #6, Missions #7, and Missions #8) are of the San Jose Mission, founded in 1721 by the Spanish. It is located in the city of San Antonio, Texas. These images were created in July of 1997.
The museum box, covered in silk and mohair is, itself, a numbered, signed, limited edition, containing on its top two digital images of columns from Volubilis, printed on Indian rag paper. The box was designed by Raul Varela, and the box maker was Darlene Dominguez.
It was my purpose to create a portfolio of the highest quality, of images that, to me, have timeless beauty. The creation of these images and the production of this portfolio has given me much pleasure, and I hope that you also find much pleasure in the viewing of them.
